Dr. Iskandar graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at University Indonesia, Jakarta, before completing his specialisation in General Surgery at University Diponegoro, Semarang where he graduated with cum laude. Dr. Iskandar undertook further study in Paediatric Surgery at University Indonesia.
In 2011, Dr. Iskandar studied paediatric urology and minimal invasive paediatric surgery fellowship at Universiti Kebangsaan in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, under Prof. Dr. Tan Hock Lim, a world renowned pioneer of minimally invasive surgery. In 2013, he was granted a scholarship for Neonate surgery and participated in a research on Hirschsprung’s disease at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan where he produced some international journals.
Dr. Iskandar has participated in numerous national and international research studies and publications in the field of Paediatric Surgery. His areas of special interest include: Neonates, Hirschsprung's disease and Paediatric Urology. He has also shared his knowledge and experience by contributing to the Department of Surgery at the University of Indonesia as a lecturer up until 2017. Currently, Dr. Iskandar is a lecturer at Faculty of Medical and Health Science at Atma Jaya University, Jakarta.
Aside from his professional work, Dr. Iskandar is also a member of the Tzu Chi Indonesia Medical Association which regularly organises social services for hernia surgeries and other disorders. Dr. Iskandar is a keen traveller and enjoys reading books and gardening.
